[sclug-chat] upcoming IPOs
Linux companies are starting to wade into the murky depths of the stock
market. First in was redhat. Next up is cobalt networks:

Which is tomorrow, get your pennies together if you want to be involved.
VA Linux Systems (was VA Research) is also getting ready to pop soon. As well
as Andover (home of slashdot and freshmeat). Hopefully VA will do a similar
offering as redhat and offer stock to developers of free software. Maybe
VA really loves tcpflow. And maybe it is christmas.
Cobalt's is interesting because it is a hardware house, a very specific
hardware vendor. Running linux kernels on MIPS processors for 'blackbox'
things like web servers and file servers. They are more like TiVo then
they are like redhat but their product line does hinge on a nice stable
free kernel coming out from Linus and Alan.
And IMHO there is still plenty of room in this market of hardware coupled
with linux.
